FAQ

Why does my granite look dull when it looked shiny when installed?
Granite dulls over time from surface deposits (hard water, soap film), micro-scratches from cleaning, and sealer degradation. Most cases can be fully restored without resurfacing. The original factory polish is preserved underneath, and professional polishing removes the top film to reveal it.
Las Vegas water seems to damage my countertop faster than normal. Is that true?
Yes. Southern Nevada has some of the hardest water in the country, which accelerates calcium and magnesium deposit buildup on stone surfaces significantly faster than soft-water regions. This is a real regional factor, not a cleaning habits issue. Sealing helps but does not eliminate the need for periodic restoration.
Can quartz countertops be polished?
Quartz (engineered stone) cannot be polished with diamond abrasives like natural stone, but it can be cleaned and re-sealed, and surface scratches can often be buffed with appropriate compounds. Sebastian will assess during the free estimate and recommend the right approach for your specific material.
How long does sealing last?
Typically 2 to 5 years for kitchen countertops with regular use. Bathroom vanity tops often last longer due to less aggressive cleaning. Resealing is recommended when water no longer beads on the surface. We can recommend stone-safe daily cleaners that extend the sealer life.
Do you also work on bathroom countertops?
Yes. Bathroom countertops, vanity tops, and shower ledges are all within scope. Many clients book kitchen and bathroom countertops together for a small combo discount. Sebastian will assess all stone surfaces during the free estimate.
