FAQ
Can't find the answer? Get in touch and we'll respond within 30 minutes.
Will polishing scratch or damage my marble?
No. The diamond polishing system uses progressively finer abrasives that remove micro-scratches rather than creating new ones. The result is always smoother and more reflective than what was there before. Sebastian has specific experience with marble and will set realistic expectations during the estimate.
Can etched marble (dull spots from acid) be repaired?
Yes. Etching is surface-level chemical damage that removes the polished layer of marble. Diamond polishing removes the etched layer and re-polishes the stone beneath. Deep etching may require more passes but can typically be fully removed. Very deep pitting in soft limestone or dolomite may require additional techniques.
I have travertine floors that are dull and pitted. Can those holes be filled?
Yes. Travertine’s natural voids can be filled with color-matched grout or stone filler as part of the restoration process before polishing. Filling is optional, some homeowners prefer the open-hole natural look, others prefer a smoother finish. Sebastian discusses preferences during the estimate.
How long does the sealer last on a polished stone floor?
Typically 2 to 5 years depending on foot traffic and cleaning products used. Avoid acidic cleaners such as vinegar or lemon-based products on sealed stone in Las Vegas. We can recommend stone-safe cleaners that will extend the sealer life. Resealing is recommended when water no longer beads on the surface.
Is stone polishing appropriate for granite countertops?
Granite is very hard and typically does not require diamond polishing to maintain its look. However, Royal Surface Restore can clean, re-hone matte granite, and seal granite countertops. If your granite has visible scratches or dull spots, Sebastian will assess the specific stone during the free estimate and recommend the right approach.
